MALAYSIA: TWO FRIENDS SENT TO THE GALLOWS FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
November 28, 2012: Two friends were sent to the gallows by a High Court in Malaysia for trafficking 195.6kg of drugs.
Zulkefle Ismail, 44, and Nasir Jusoh, 36, were found guilty of trafficking 195.28kg of cannabis, 311.3gm of monoacetylmorphine and 14.3gm of heroin.
They committed the offence on March 2, 2006 at a double-storey house in Seberang Prai, in Penang State, Malaysia.
In her judgment, Judicial Commissioner Nurmala Salim said that if the drugs found did not belong to the two men, there was no reason for them to run away from the police.
"They ran up the roof which was dangerous and they also threw roof tiles at the police," she said.
Zulkefle and Nasir were represented by counsels R. Rethinakumar and counsel S. Raveentharan respectively while DPP Tan Guat Cheng prosecuted. (Sources: thestar.com.my, 28/11/2012)
