IRAN: TWO MEN HANGED FOR RAPE, MURDER
January 28, 2013: Two men were executed in Iran in recent days, in two separate cases.
According to the official Iranian media a man was hanged on January 26 in the public in Kerman (southeastern Iran). According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars the man was identified as "Yaser K." (age not mentioned) and convicted of rape. The execution was carried out at the Khajou Square of Kerman.
On January 24, one prisoner was hanged in Ilam Prison, reported Fars, a state-run Iranian news agency. The prisoner, who was not identified by name, was convicted of murder and sentenced to Qesas (retribution). (Sources: Iran Human Rights, 26/01/2013)
