KENYA: NANYUKI MAN TO HANG FOR VIOLENT CRIME
May 8, 2013: A man has been sentenced to hang by a Nanyuki court, Kenya.
Martin Gitonga was found guilty of violent robbery. The worker at Tima Farm in Timau Township Buuri district had been accused of violently robbing Sospeter Kinuthia on January 30.
He was part of a gang armed with a metal bar and clubs that robbed Kinuthia of a motorola phone, a pair of safari boots, a jacket, a national ID card and two pairs long trousers.
Kinuthia was walking home at 9pm when he was accosted by a gang of four people who hit him with a metal bar. He lost consciousness. Later at Tima Farm, where he too is an employee, he saw Gitonga wearing a pair of trousers similar to his.
He informed the guards who arrested Gitonga.
Gitonga, however, claimed that he was watching TV at his mother's house together with her and his brother. (Sources: the-star.co.ke, 08/05/2013)
