IRAN: SIX PRISONERS HANGED PUBLICLY
September 4, 2013: Between 18 and 22 August 2013, six prisoners were hanged publicly in four different cities.
On 18 August, three young men identified as Meraj T., Ali A. and Milad P. (ages 20-24 years) were hanged at three different spots in the city of Karaj. According to the IRNA, the prisoners were convicted of theft, kidnapping and rape and were sentenced to prison, flogging and execution.
On 21 August, two prisoners were hanged in public in two Iranian cities, reported the state media. One prisoner identified as Abdolhamid S., also known as "Mehdi", was hanged at Chamrun square in the city of Jahrom. According to the Iranian state broadcasting, the prisoner was 28 year old and convicted of kidnapping and committing a murder 10 years ago. Another prisoner, who was not identified by name, was hanged in public in Tabriz. He was convicted of murdering a six-year-old girl.
On 22 August, another prisoner was hanged in public in the town of Hendijan, FARS reported.
