EGYPT: COURT CONFIRMED DEATH SENTENCE TO 20
September 28, 2014: An Egyptian court confirmed death sentences for 20 Muslim Brotherhood members for burning a police station and killing a security officer in August last year.
The Menya Criminal court also adjourned the retrial of 161 Muslim Brotherhood members for taking part in violent clashes related to the same case, state-run MENA news agency reported.
In May this year, the court had sentenced in absentia 37 Muslim Brotherhood members to death while 492 others got life in prison sentences in the same case.
The incident took place in August last year when a crowd in Matay city in Menya Governorate had attacked and burned down a police station. (Sources: PTI, 30/09/2014)
