PAKISTAN: ANOTHER CONVICTED TERRORIST HANGED IN RAWALPINDI
January 9, 2015: Another convicted of attempting to assassinate former President Pervez Musharraf in December 2003, was hanged at Adiala Central Jail in Rawalpindi.
Khalid Mehmood, a former Pakistan Air Force chief technician, was the seventh to be executed out of nine terrorists found guilty of trying to assassinate Musharraf.
Khalid, who was sentenced to death on 3 October 2005, met his family members before execution.
Pakistan lifted a moratorium on capital punishment in terrorism cases following the 16 December Taliban-perpetrated massacre at a military-run school in Peshawar in which 150 people, including 134 children, were killed.
Eight convicted militants have been hanged so far since the de facto ban on capital punishment ended. (Sources: geo.tv, 10/01/2014)
