KENYA: FOUR WHO SHOT AND KILLED UHURU KIN SENTENCED TO DEATH
September 26, 2015: Four men who shot and killed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relative have been sentenced to death.
Paul Kilyungi Maluki, Mutua Nzioka, Alex Mwenda and Aggrey Musina were found guilty of the murder of lawyer Rose Waruinge at her home in Kilimani, Nairobi on February 10, 2012 during a robbery.
Musina was a guard at Ms Wairunge’s house.
A fifth man, Mr John Masila Nzioka, was acquitted after doubts were raised over his identification as witnesses said his face was covered.
Senior Principal Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi said the evidence of key witnesses and an account by investigating officer John Shegu was “overwhelming.”
After the shooting, the gang stole two mobile phones, a television set, a radio, Sh25,000 cash, a gold Rotary watch and a pair of ear-rings all valued at Sh90,000.
The lawyer’s son, Mr David Waruinge, and her daughter Hannah Thira Wambui were also robbed during the attack at their home. (Sources: Nation.co.ke, 26/09/2015)
