EGYPT: 7 OPPOSITION MEMBERS SENTENCED TO DEATH
February 2, 2016: An Egyptian military court in Cairo sentenced seven opposition members to death and transferred their file to the Mufti for approval, a judicial source told the Anadolu Agency.
According to the judicial source, the seven Egyptian were accused of killing three students in the military college in Kafr El-Sheikh in April 2014. Three of the suspects were sentenced in absentia, the source said.
The court will sentence nine other suspects in the same case on March 2, the same day when the court is going to announce its final ruling regarding the seven aforementioned suspects.
Head of the Muslim Brotherhoodâs Administrative Bureau Salah Al-Fiqi, his deputy and the head of the Freedom and Justice Party branch in Kafr El-Sheikh were amongst the most prominent defendants in the case. The ruling can be appealed. (Sources: middleeastmonitor.com, 02/02/2016)
