BANGLADESH: 6 TO WALK GALLOWS FOR KILLING FACTORY WORKER IN NARSINGDI
November 29, 2016: A Narsingdi court sentenced six people to death for killing an ice factory worker in the district town in 2008. Â
The condemned convicts are Sujon alias Bagha Sujon alias Tiger, 25, son of Alfaz Uddin Mollah of Ramnathpur village in Gauripur upazila of Mymensingh, Sohag alias Sohag Chandra Das, 25, son of Shital Chandra Das of Kandarpara of Narsingdi, Ershad, 30, son of Sadek Miah of Ammakanda of Matlab upazila in Chandpur, and Saddam, 30, son of Abdur Razzak, Samir alias Samir Chandra Das, 32, son of late Sudhir Chandra Das, and Bimal, 33, son of Kalachan of Buakur village in Sadar upazila of Narsingdi.
The court also fined the accused Tk 10,000 each.
According to the prosecution, Sujon, one of the six accused, had an altercation with the victim, Ayub, a worker of âKabir Ice Factoryâ in the district town and son of Abdul Hakim Sarkar of Boakur village in sadar upazila, as he was sacked from the ice factory following an allegation made by Ayub on August 29, 2008.
Sujon called Ayub out of his house over mobile phone on the same day and took him to a secret place.
Later, he along with friends slaughtered Ayub to death and dumped the body in the Meghna River.
After examining nine witnesses and documents, Judge of Additional District and Session Judgeâs court M Shahin Uddin handed down the verdict in absence of the accused. (Sources: daily-sun.com, 29/11/2016)
