IRAN: PRISONER HANGED ON MURDER CHARGES
November 18, 2017: According to a close source, a prisoner was hanged on the morning at Ilam Central Prison. The prisoner, identified as Alireza Sadeghi, was sentenced to death on the charge of murdering a man during a street fight. “Alireza got into a fight with a man named Behruz Yekravi at Imam Square in Ilam two years ago and killed him with a knife,” said an informed source to Iran Human Rights (IHR). The execution of this prisoner has not been announced by the state-run media so far. According to Iran Human Rights annual report on the death penalty, 142 of the 530 execution sentences in 2016 were implemented due to murder charges. (Sources: Iran Human Rights, 21/11/2017)
