TEXAS (USA): ERICK DAVILA EXECUTED
April 25, 2018: Erick Davila, 31, Black, was executed. He was then injected with a lethal dose of pentobarbital and was pronounced dead at 6:31 p.m.. Davila was sentenced on February 27, 2009 in the April 6, 2008, shooting deaths of Queshawn Stevenson, 5, and her grandmother Annette Stevenson, 48, both blacks, during a children's birthday party. 4 other people, including 3 children, were wounded. Davila was a member of a Fort Worth street gang, and authorities believe Annette Stevenson's adult son, Jerry Stevenson, may have been his intended target in retaliation for a prior gang-related incident in which Davila was wounded. Jerry Stevenson was unhurt during Davila's shooting rampage. Defense attorneys had asked jurors to spare Davila's life because of his low IQ, mental instability and deprived childhood. He was conceived when his mother was raped at age 13, and his father is in prison for murder. Davila's execution marks the 5th execution in Texas this year, the 550th since the state resumed executions in 1982, the 9th in the United States, and the n° 1474 since USA resumed executions in 1977.
