SINGAPORE: FAMILY’S LAWYER CONFIRMS PRABU HANGED
October 29, 2018: It has been confirmed that Malaysian citizen Prabu N. Pathmanathan was hanged at Changi prison at dawn on 26 October 2018 for drug trafficking, according to his family’s lawyer N. Surendran. “The family has claimed the body and will be cremating the remains today,” the Advisor to Lawyers for Liberty said in a statement forwarded to Bernama appended with the latest photo of Prabu. The lawyer said that late last night, the Singapore President’s Office delivered a letter to Prabu’s family in response to their clemency petition. The letter stated that ‘the clemency process had concluded’ and ‘we are unable to accede to your request’, he said. Prabu, 31, had been sentenced to death for committing several acts preparatory to and for the purposes of trafficking in 227.82g of diamorphine or heroin into the island state on Dec 31, 2014.
