ZIMBABWEAN GOV'T PRESSES AHEAD TO ABOLISH DEATH PENALTY
December 20, 2018: President Mnangagwa wants the death penalty banned and the Zimbabwean government is pressing ahead with plans to have the death penalty removed from its statutes, Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi said on 19 December 2018. The Herald newspaper reported that Ziyambi told the Senate thematic committee on human rights earlier this week that debate would be held on Constitutional amendments to end death by hanging in line with international trends.
