KENYA: KIRINYAGA HANDS DEATH SENTENCE TO BRAZEN KILLERS
May 16, 2019: A Kerugoya Court has handed a death sentence to two men who killed two people and maimed one in a robbery incident that ended up being kidnapping. Appearing before Kerugoya Law Courts Chief Magistrate Samuel Shoita, Mr Peter Kariuki Ndenge and John Mwangi Njagi were sentenced to death for robbery with violence, demanding money with menace, abduction and handling a stolen phone. The two had initially been charged with robbing Cyrus Munene Mwenje of his car and phone all valued at Sh 754,000. The two also stole an unknown amount of money from Mr. Mwenje before injuring another person – Isaac Kariuki Munene – and killing a security guard identified as James Muriithi Mugwanja. They were to later abduct Mwenje and demand Sh1 million ransom from his wife. The wife managed to send Sh84,000. They killed her husband. (Sources: dailyactive.info, 15/05/2019)
