NIGERIA: TWO TO DIE BY HANGING IN OSUN FOR KILLING STUDENT
April 6, 2020: An Osun State High Court sitting in Ikirun on 2nd April 2020 sentenced two men Elijah Oyebode and Jelili Raji to death by hanging for the murder of a female student of University of Osun. Oyebode and Raji were first arraigned on 14 November 2017. During the trial, prosecution counsel called five witnesses and tendered several exhibits before the court while the convicts testified by themselves. Prosecution counsel, Mr. Kareem Adekilekun, told the court: “On 22 December 2016 Miss Rofiat Damilola Adebisi, a 400-level student of Osun State University, Ipetu-Ijesa Campus boarded a Golf car with Registration number, Lagos FKJ 636 DL driven by Mr. Elijah Oyebode.” However, On 23 December 2016 the body of Rofiat Damilola Adebisi was found by the roadside along Egbeda/Iragbiji Road.
