THE SEMINAR ‘TOWARDS THE ABOLITION OF THE DEATH PENALTY IN TUNISIA’ BEGINS IN TUNIS
June 24, 2020: The seminar "Towards the abolition of the death penalty in Tunisia" begins in Tunis on 25 June 2020, which represents the final act of the project supported by the European Union aimed at containing the death penalty in times of "war on terrorism" in the country. The meeting, which takes place at the Hôtel Golden Tulip El Mechtel in Tunis, will see the presentation of different studies and a draft law, which will be followed by debates: "The death penalty and the right to life in comparative law and in international and regional laws" - Dr. Hafidha Chekir and Dr. Wahid Ferchichi; Illustration of a bill relating to the abolition of the death penalty in Tunisia. - Dr. Hafidha Chekir and Dr. Waid Ferchichi; Presentation of the study “Capital punishment in Tunisia, is the moratorium sufficient? The project was carried out thanks to the synergy between Hands Off Cain and the Arab Institute for Human Rights (AIHR) in Tunisia.
