BANGLADESH: TWO SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING SCHOOLGIRL AFTER RAPE IN 2012
January 6, 2021: Two people on 4 January 2021 were sentenced to death for raping and killing a minor in Madaripur. Judge Mosammat Dilruba Sultana of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Madaripur pronounced the verdict in presence of the convicts, said Public Prosecutor Md Moslem Ali Akhan. The court also fined the duo Tk one lakh each. The convicts are Mahmudul Hasan alias Madhu (32) and Milon Mollah (30) of Shreenadi village in Madaripur's Sadar upazila. According to the case statement, the second-grader was raped and killed in a jungle on 27 November 2012, when she was returning home from coaching centre. The following day, the victim's father filed a case against unidentified persons with Madaripur Sadar Police Station. Police pressed charges against Madhu and Milon on 3 February 2013.
