SOMALIA: AL-SHABAAB EXECUTES MAN BY FIRING SQUAD FOR ALLEGED SPYING
February 3, 2022: Al-Shabaab militants have announced the execution of a man who they accused of spying for the Ethiopia National Defense Forces [ENDF] working for AMISOM and the Southwest regional troops, Garowe reported 1 february 2022. The militants are known to execute those deemed to be working with their enemies. Al-Shabaab media reported that Nunow Sanweyne, 34, was executed in front of the locals at Bula-Fulay town in the Bay region of the South-West state. Hundreds of civilians watched when he was being executed by the squad. The Al-Shabaab insisted that the accused has been cooperating with the ENDF and Southwest regional troops by sharing intelligence on their whereabouts in previous months. Most of the Ethiopian troops serving in the African Union Mission Forces in Somalia are stationed in the Southwest and parts af Jubaland.
