BANGLADESH: 4 GET DEATH SENTENCE FOR KILLING CHILD IN N'GANJ
March 20, 2024: A court in Narayanganj on March 5, 2024 sentenced four people to death for killing a schoolboy at Rupganj in the district in 2018. At the same time, the court also fined them Tk one lakh each. Narayanganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Umme Saraban Tahura announced the verdict in the afternoon. The condemned convicts are Shaheen, 35, a resident of Mangalkali area of Rupganj, Alamgir, 27, of Balainagar area, Anik Chandra Das, 27, of Baniyadi area, and Ashik Chandra Das, 30, of the same area. The court public prosecutor Abdur Rahim, confirming the verdict, said one convict was present in the court when the verdict was announced. The rest are absconding. According to the case statement, on June 5, 2018, the convicted kidnapped child Jayanta and demanded ransom. Later, they killed the child as they did not get the ransom money.
