IRAN - Raouf Sheikh Ahmadi and Mohammad Faraji Sentenced to Death

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, Raouf Sheikh Ahmadi and Mohammad Faraji, two Kurdish “Woman, Life, Freedom” protesters detained in Bukan Prison, were sentenced to death by Mahabad Revolutionary Court on charges of moharebeh (enmity against God) and efsad-fil-arz (corruption on earth). No additional information is available about the accusations against them.
Raouf Sheikh Ahmadi, 25, was arrested at his family’s home in Bukan on 26 December 2022. Two days later, he was transferred to the Urmia Intelligence detention facility, where he was subjected to physical and psychological torture to extract false confessions. He was held incommunicado at the facilities for five and a half months.
Mohammad Faraji, 24, is a car mechanic who was arrested in Bukan on 11 January 2023. He was transferred to the Urmia Intelligence detention facility for three months, where like Raouf, he was held incommunicado and subjected to physical and psychological torture to make false self-incriminating confessions.
The two protesters were separately tried by the Mahabad Revolutionary Court in November 2025 and informed that the Court had issued their death sentences on 24 February 2026.
Another Kurdish “Woman, Life, Freedom” protester, Mohsen Eslamkhah, who was under the age of 18 at the time of his alleged offence, was also recently sentenced to death. All three men are held in Bukan Prison.
