IRAN - First physical archive of the 2026 massacre presented at a Brussels exhibition

February 5, 2026:

February 5, 2026 - IRAN. First physical archive of the 2026 massacre presented at a Brussels exhibition by Hengaw and Mala Kurdî

The Kurdish–Belgian association Mala Kurdî (Mala Kurdi), in collaboration with Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, has organized a street exhibition in Brussels to commemorate the victims of the mass killings carried out in Iran during the late December to January 2026 protests. The exhibition opened on January 29, 2026, at Mont des Arts Square and was later held in front of the European Parliament.

During the exhibition, Hengaw and Mala Kurdî displayed the names and portraits of those killed in the protests, transforming public space into a place of remembrance and solidarity with the victims.

According to the organizers, the exhibition aims to present a factual and comprehensive portrayal of the scale of killings, repression, and violence carried out by the Iranian government in its efforts to suppress the protests.

Mala Kurdî stated that the initiative marks the presentation of the first physical archive of the 2026 massacre. The initial exhibition at Mont des Arts represented the first public outcome of this archival effort. It continued for several consecutive days before being moved to the area in front of the European Parliament.

Sajad Karimi, a member of Mala Kurdî, said that official permission has been obtained to hold the exhibition every Thursday until the end of February.

He added that the organizers are determined to continue the street exhibition until the identities of all victims of the massacre have been fully identified and verified.

Hengaw has so far verified the identities of 1,200 people killed during the late December to January 2026 protests, including 118 women and 88 children under the age of 18.
