OKLAHOMA (USA): JOHNNY DALE BLACK EXECUTED

Johnny Dale Black

18 December 2013 :

Johnny Dale Black was executed in Oklahoma.
This was the last execution of the year in the Usa.
Black, 48, White,  was convicted of the January 4, 1998 stabbing death of Bill Pogue, 54, during a roadside attack. Pogue's son-in-law, Rick Lewis, was also attacked. Lewis suffered more than a dozen wounds but later recovered.
At a hearing before the state Pardon and Parole Board last month, Black begged forgiveness for his actions. But he insisted that he was merely trying to defend his brother, Jimmy Black, from Pogue. The brothers had approached Pogue and Lewis after mistaking their car for that of someone else they had been searching for.
Black was previously convicted of manslaughter for the 1984 death of Cecil Martin, 49. Black served 9 years of a 15-year sentence in that case.
Black becomes the 6th inmate to be put to death this year in Oklahoma, the 108th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1990, the 39th inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1359th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
