UAE: BLOOD MONEY PAID, 3 PUNJABI YOUTHS RETURN HOME FROM DUBAI

after being released from death row in Sharjah central jail in the United Arab Emirates, three Punjab youths returned home to India.
Kashmiri Lal, from Nawanshahr district, and Trilochan Singh and Pradeep Kumar from Hoshairpur district, in their twenties, were sentenced to death in Dubai in 2009 for bootlegging and murder. They allegedly murdered Vikramjit Singh in October 2008.
Dubai-based NGO Sarbat Da Bhala paid 1.8 million rupees (27,853 Euros) as blood money for their release.
“I shelled out 1.2 million rupees from my own pocket and the rest of the amount was arranged by the convicts’ families,” S.P. Singh Oberoi, Sarbat founder said.
