KENYA. DEATH SENTENCE WAS TOO HARSH, SAYS NGUGI
December 18, 2006: novelist Ngugi wa Thiong'o said the death sentence passed by a Kenyan court on the three guards who attacked him and his wife was too harsh.
Ngugi said the attackers did not deserve the death penalty. "We are not happy with the death sentence passed on our attackers. We feel it is not good for us because we don't believe in death sentence," Ngugi said. (Sources: The Nation, 18/12/2006)
