MORATORIUM. MINISTER BONINO SAYS NECESSARY TO GO ON EVEN WITHOUT UNANIMITY
April 10, 2007: discussing the initiative for the UN moratorium on capital punishment, the Italian Minister for International Trade and European Policies, Emma Bonino, declared: "I believe it is practically obligatory to pass the initiative on to the EU Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, on the condition that we are fully aware that we will not give up even if unanimity is not reached."
"It is necessary to find more signatures in Latin America and Africa so that we can go to Bruxelles and say: this is a global initiative." (Sources: Messaggero, Adnkronos; 10/04/2007)
