SAUDI ARABIA BEHEADS YOUTH CONVICTED OF MURDERING STEPMOTHER WHILE A MINOR
August 20, 2007: Saudi Arabian authorities beheaded a Saudi national convicted of fatally shooting his stepmother while he was still a minor. The execution took place in the Muslim holy city of Mecca. Abdullah Bin Mohammed al-Otaibi shot his stepmother, Wadha Bint Dhwehi Bint Shafi, following a dispute, the ministry said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency. The nature of the dispute and the timing of the shooting, which also took place in Mecca, were not known. The execution was delayed until al-Otaibi reached the legal age of 18 years, which in Saudi Arabia is considered being an adult. (Sources: International Herald Tribune, 20/08/2007)
