NEW YORK. APPEAL BY GLOBAL COALITION FOR MORATORIUM
October 9, 2007: the Press Conference for the Abolitionof the Death Penalty , organised by the Worldwide Coalition against the Death Penalty, will be held in New York on Wednesday October 10th at the United Nations headquarters.
The event, organised for the Worldwide Day against the Death Penalty, will be attended by several luminaries. These include: Souhayr Belhassen, president of the International Federation for Human Rights, Mike Farrell, actor and spokesperson for the Death Penalty Focus, Tim Robbins, actor and director, Sister Helen Prejean, author of the best seller "Dead Man Walking", and Michel Taube, of Ensemble Contre la Peine de Mort. Matteo Mecacci will represent Hands Off Cain and the Non-Violent Radical Party.
During the event, an appeal to the UN member States will be made to approve the resolution for the Universal Moratorium on capital executions.
