IRAN. TWO HANGED FOR MURDER
March 4, 2008: Iran hanged two men convicted of murder, one of them an Afghan, in a prison in the central city of Isfahan, the Fars news agency reported. The Afghan man, identified as Mirza, 26, was found guilty of stabbing to death an Afghan girl identified as Halimeh who refused to marry him some four years ago. The second man was identified as Akbar Fatemi, 24, who was convicted of killing the 68 year old owner of a jewellery store and the theft of 5 kg of gold. (Sources: Agence France Presse, 05/03/2008)
