ALGERIA. 24 EXTREMISTS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR TERRORISM
May 24, 2008: Twenty-four extremists have been sentenced to death in Algeria on charges of terrorism and other crimes, the local media
reported.
The extremists had been convicted of illegal possession of weapons, use of explosives as well as involvement in kidnapping, the Algerian Press Service
reported.
Armed groups in the country have launched frequent attacks on army troops, police, government institutions and civilians since the 1990s.
