JAPAN: TOP COURT UPHOLDS DEATH SENTENCE ON GANGSTER FOR KILLING 4 IN SHOOTING
July 10, 2009: the Japanese Supreme Court upheld a man’s death sentence for killing a rival gang member and three bystanders in a shooting at a bar in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, on January 5, 2003. The top court's No. 2 petty bench dismissed an appeal by Masato Kohinata, 39, against lower court decisions sentencing him to death.
