ZAMBIA: THREE TO HANG FOR AGGRAVATED ROBBERY
July 23, 2009: the Ndola High Court in Zambia sentenced three villagers of Chiengi in Luapula Province to death for aggravated robbery. Justice Muyinda Wanki sentenced Alex Chola, 36, a fisherman, James Ng'onga, 36, and Gershom Chishala, 46, both peasant farmers, to death. On July 18, 2006, while armed with a handgun, they allegedly robbed John Ng'ambi of a radio cassette, one overdress, slippers, a wall clock, pots, dishes and K70, 000 cash, all worth K468,000.
