IRAN: ABDOLMALEK RIGI HANGED IN TEHRAN
June 20, 2010: According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Abdolmalek Rigi, the former leader of the armed Baluchi group Jondollah, was hanged.
The execution took place inside Tehranâs Evin prison early this morning.
Abdolmalek Rigi (26) was the founder of the armed sunni group fighting against the authorities. The group had claimed several bombings and attacks directed against the Revolutionary Guards.
Abdolmalek Rigi was convicted of Moharebeh (at war with God), and several other charges such as kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, propaganda against the authorities, having connection with the foreign intelligence services and other counter-revolutionary groups.
