TEXAS (USA): CONVICTED MURDERER EXECUTED
July 1, 2010: A man convicted of murdering a woman during a 2001 car hijacking was executed by lethal injection in Huntsville, Texas, state authorities said.
Michael Perry, 28, was pronounced dead at 2317 GMT. He was the 14th inmate put to death in Texas and the 30th in the United States this year.
Perry was convicted in 2003 of murdering a 50-year-old nurse with two shots in the back. The nurse's 16-year-old son and an 18-year-old friend were also shot to death, but an accomplice of Perry in the crime was sentenced to life for their murders.
His execution comes about 90 minutes after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last-day appeal. (Sources: Afp, 01/07/2010)
