GAMBIA: MEN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER
August 26, 2010: three men have been sentenced to death in Gambia, in two different cases.
On August 23, the Special Criminal Court presided over by Justice Joseph E. Ikpala sentenced Lamin Faye to death. He allegedly stabbed Mustapha Jammeh to death with a knife on June 13, 2009, at Gunjur village in the Kombo South District, Western Region.
On August 19, the Basse High Court, presided over by travelling Justice Lamin Jobarteh, sentenced Bangally Jallow, Samba Doro Bah and Sunkari Kanteh to death. They were found guilty on multiple counts of murder, conspiracy to cause death, robbery with actual bodily harm and intent to cause grievous harm. They allegedly killed Mamadou Jallow by shooting him in Miseraba Mariama village, Kantora District, Upper River Region.
