IRAN: ETHNIC KURD SENTENCED TO DEATH ON ESPIONAGE CHARGES
October 19, 2010: a military court in Iran's northwestern Kordestan Province sentenced Abdollah Sarvari, an ethnic Kurdish resident of Sanandaj, to death, the Human Rights House of Iran (Rahana) website reported.
Sarvari, a resident of Sanandaj city with a 25-year military background in the Iranian Army, has been sentenced to death on charges of espionage by the Military court of that city, the report quoted the Kurdish Perspective website as saying.
Sarvari's family have been threatened by the security forces and ordered not to reveal any information in connection with his death sentence and avoid speaking to the media about that, the report said. (Sources: BBC, 20/10/2010)
