ZAMBIA: 5 TO HANG FOR MURDER
January 27, 2011: judge Munyinda Wanki of the Lusaka High Court in Zambia sentenced five people to death for murder, in two different cases.
Nelson Mpala, Clement Dube, Kennedy Kakompe and Shadreck Mpala, all from Mumbwa district, were sentenced to death for killing Collins Shakunkuma on January 18, 2010, after accusing him of stealing K50,000. Shakunkumaâs hands were tied and he was whipped all day using sticks and whips.
In another case, domestic servant Isaac Mtonga of Zakeyo village in Lundazi district was sentenced to death for fatally stabbing and robbing Kamlesh Misra K200 million cash on January 26, 2010.
