BAHRAIN: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER
March 13, 2012: A Bahraini was sentenced to death for killing his wife in a brutal attack in the couple's home, in Bahrain. The father-of-three was convicted of premeditated murder at the High Criminal Court.
He was also found guilty of possessing and using hashish and amphetamine and ordered to pay initial compensation of BD100 to the victim's family.
The defendant earlier told investigators that he hid a 12-inch knife under his pillow and, after the couple had sex twice and showered, he knelt over his Moroccan wife and repeatedly plunged the blade into her body.
The Bahraini stabbed Eman Al Haiddhar six times in the couple's flat in Zinj in July in 2009 after drinking a bottle-and-a-half of alcohol.
He reportedly attacked her when she refused to give up working as a prostitute. (Sources: gulf-daily-news.com, 14/03/2012)
