PAKISTAN: GB DY SPEAKER MURDER ATC AWARDS DEATH SENTENCE TO FIVE
July 2, 2012: In Pakistan, an anti terrorism court awarded death sentence to five accused in the murder of Deputy Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly Asad Zaidi and three others while two accused were released.
The ATC in its judgment awarded three time death sentence and a collective fine of Rs 1.5 million to five accused while another accused Shakil Ahmad has been given three time life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000.
Two other accused Amjadvi and Mansoor have been awarded five years sentence and Rs 50,000 fine each. Two other accused in the case Manzoor and Jauhar Usman were released. he ATC No.2 Judge Syed Mohammad Faisal announced the verdict.
Those awarded death sentence were Banyamin, Faizan, Farooq Ahmad, Mir Baz and Arshad Amman and fine of Rs 3 lakh each. (Sources: pakobserver.net, 03/07/2012)
