ZIMBABWE: CHILD KILLER SENTENCED TO DEATH
October 23, 2012: In Zimbabwe, a jilted lover killed his ex-girlfriend’s nine-year-old son and then set his body on fire – because she had left him for another man.
45-year-old Michael Goodluck Sivako Nleya of Ndolwane, Bulilima District, was sentenced to death at the Bulawayo High Court for the October 2010 murder of Blessed Msebele.
After the brutal murder, Nleya fled to Botswana, and then South Africa, from where he sent a string of threatening messages to the boy’s uncle, Tsepo Msebele, who lives in Johannesburg.
Justice Lawrence Kamocha heard how Msebele and other men effected a citizen’s arrest on Nleya and smuggled him back into Zimbabwe before handing him over to detectives in Plumtree.
Nleya was apprehended by the boy’s uncle in Johannesburg on June 14 last year and driven 760KM to face justice in Zimbabwe.
Nleya pleaded not guilty to murder but was convicted by Justice Kamocha who condemned him to death by hanging. (Sources: newzimbabwe.com, 23/10/2012)
