VIETNAM: SUPREME PEOPLE'S COURT CONFIRMS DEATH FOR CHINESE DRUG MULE
May 30, 2013: In Vietnam, the Supreme Peopleās Court upheld the death penalty handed down by a provincial court to a Chinese man for drug trafficking.
Zhu Yin Xiang, 58, had been found guilty of transporting 1.3 kilograms of heroin from Cambodia to Vietnam last August.
The Tay Ninh Province policeĀ caught Zhu with four packs of the drug near the Moc Bai Border Gate.
He told them he was living in Cambodia since 2011.
A day before the arrest a Chinese man hired him to take the drugs to Ho Chi Minh City and paid him US$400.
On May 2 the Tay Ninh provincial court sentenced him to death, and he filed an appeal. (Sources: thanhniennews.com, 30/06/2013)
