INDIA: KILLER-RAPIST GETS DEATH SENTENCE IN KERALA
July 31, 2013: In India, Manjeri district sessions court sentenced Palapparamban Abdul Nasar, 45, to death for raping and strangulating a nine-year-old girl to death at Pookkottumpadam in Malappuram district in April last year.
Noting that the case falls under the rarest of rare category, district sessions judge P K Haneefa observed that Nasar, who has three children, committed the act aware of the consequences. Nasar was the victim's neighbour.
On April 4, 2012, the victim, a Std IV student, went to Nasar's house to meet his daughter, her classmate. After she failed to return home, her parents approached the police, who found the girl's body in a bathroom attached to Nasar's house. (Sources: timesofindia, 01/08/2013)
