ARIZONA (USA): ROBERT GLEN JONES EXECUTED
October 23, 2013: Robert Glen Jones, 43, White, was executed in Arizona.
Jones was convicted in 1998 of shooting and killing 6 people in 2 robberies on May 30, 1996 and on June 13, 1996.
Jones and co-defendant Scott Nordstrom were found guilty of the murders in 1998 and sentenced to die for the crimes. Victims were: Clarence Odell III, 47; and Thomas Hardman, 26, Arthur Bell, 54; Judy Bell, 46; Maribeth Munn, 53; and Carol Lynn Noel, 50.
Jones and Scott Nordstrom were found guilty of the murders. Both were sentenced to die.
A big break in the case came when Nordstromâs brother, David Nordstrom, contacted police. The brother testified at trial and was sentenced to prison for his role in the crimes. Scott Nordstrom remains one of 121 people on Arizona's death row.
Jones becomes the 2nd inmate to be put to death this year in Arizona, the 36th in the state since capital punishment resumed there in 1992, the 32th inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1352th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
