MALAYSIA: INDONESIAN GETS DEATH FOR KILLING HIS COUNTRYMAN
October 24, 2013: In Malaysia, a 39-year-old Indonesian was sentenced to the gallows after he was found guilty by the Sandakan High Court of murdering a fellow countryman two years ago.
Judge Datuk Douglas Sikayun handed the verdict to Hasyim Rahman after the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Hasyim was charged with murdering one, Baharuddin Amir, 40, inside a workers' quarters in a plantation in Beluran on Sept 25 between 9pm and 10.15pm.
He used a machete to slash the victim on the head and neck and the victim succumbed to his injuries.
A total of nine witnesses testified against Hasyim who was the lone defence witness.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Fillany Siji appeared for the prosecution while Hasyim was represented by Mohd Nazim Maduarin. (Sources: dailyexpress.com.my, 24/10/2013)
