INDIA: SEVEN SENTENCED TO DEATH IN CHILD'S SACRIFICE CASE IN CHHATTISGARH
March 27, 2014: Seven people, including Kiran Yadav (Guru mata), who had allegedly kidnapped and murdered a two-year-old child as part of a sacrificial tantric ritual in Ruabandha village, Durg, in 2010 were sentenced to death by the district and session Judge, Durg.
The sentence against the seven accused, Ishwari Yadav (42) Tantrik, Kiran alias Guru mata (35) and wife of Ishwari Yadav and their pupils, Mahanand Yadav (30), Rajendra Mahar (23), Nihaluddin (60), Sukhdev Yadav (35), Hemant Sahu, was announced by District Judge, Gautam Chaurariya.
Police had registered a case under Section 302, 364, 201 and 34 of the IPC against 12 people, including, four minors. The case against the minors, Prince, Priya, Preeti and Ajay is presently pending in juvenile court.
According to case file, the incident had occurred on 23 November 2010 at 2 PM when two-year old, Chirag went missing from home. When the family members searched for him, they got to know that their neighbour, Ishwari Yadav, a tantric had kidnapped him. When they reached his home, they found bowls of blood and lockets dipped in them.
