NIGERIA: WOMAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER, MUTILATION
April 15, 2014: A 25-year-old woman, Hauwa Ayuba, has been sentenced to death by hanging in Borno State, Nigeria, for committing culpable homicide and causing bodily harm.
The young woman was brought to court on four-count charges and found guilty of killing two daughters of her brother-in-law by giving them poison. On the same day, she cut the off the genitals of a four-year-old son of one of the girls and cut the childrenās mother with a machete until the latter lost consciousness.
Hauwa Ayuba was brought to court about four months ago. She had kept silent throughout the trial period, only giving way to tears from time to time.
Borno State High Court Judge Alkali Gana Wakil said while adjudging that the young woman did not appear as someone who is remorseful for their actions. (Sources: reportnaija.com, 15/04/2014)
