MALAYSIA: PENANG HAWKER TO HANG FOR MURDER
April 16, 2014: A burger seller was sentenced to death by the High Court in George Town, Malaysia, for murdering his ex-girlfriend's brother four years ago.
Mohd Firdaus Mokhtar, 31, who appeared expressionless when the judgment was delivered, was convicted of murdering Mohd Faizal Mohd Zain, 31, in a house at Sungai Bakap at about 3pm on May 3, 2010.
High Court judge Datuk Zamani Abdul Rahim, in delivering his decision, said the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution's case.
M. Chandran, who represented Mohd Firdaus, said it was an unfair judgment and that he will be filing an appeal against the decision.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Emma Syafawati Abdul Wahab prosecuted the case. (Sources: The Malay Mail, 16/04/2014)
