IRAN: SEVEN PRISONERS EXECUTED
May 8, 2014: Three prisoners were hanged in the prison of Qom (south of Tehran) early this morning, reported the official Iranian news agency IRNA.Â
Two of the prisoners were convicted of drug-related charges. One of the prisoners was identified as M. D. charged with possession and trafficking of about 1000 grams of the synthetic drug Crystal. The other prisoner, who according to the report was of Baluchi ethnicity, was identified as âM. K.â, charged with possession of narcotic drugs. This prisoner was sentenced to death along with another prisoner identified as âT. P.â who was executed on March 19, 2014.
The third prisoner who was executed in Qom today was charged with murder and sentenced to âqisasâ (retribution). He was identified as âA. D.â charged with a murder in 2010, said the report.
On May 8, the official Iranian news agency IRNA also reported about a public execution in Saveh (Markazi province, Central Iran). The prisoner was identified as âS. A.â, convicted of murdering a security officer in Saveh. The execution was carried out in the Alavi area of Saveh.
Always on May 8, two prisoners were hanged in the prison of Bandar Abbas according to unofficial reports. According to the âHuman Rights Organization of Kurdistanâ (HRO) the prisoners were charged with murder. One of the prisoners is identified as âFarzin Payandanâ. These executions have not been announced by the official sources yet.
A man identified as âGh. R.â was hanged on May 7 in the prison of Sanandaj (Iranian Kurdistan) according to unofficial sources. According to Kurdpa the man was charged with murder. (Sources: Iran Human Rights, 08/05/2014)
