IRAN: 14 PRISONERS EXECUTED
May 19, 2014: Ten prisoners were hanged on May 18 in the prison of Kerman (Southeastern Iran), reported the state run Iranian news agency Fars. The prisoners were identified as “H.A.” charged with selling 400 grams of heroin, 900 grams of crack, and participation in trafficking of 300 grams of heroin, “K. Sh.” for participation in trafficking of 48 kilograms and 700 grams of crack and 300 kilograms of heroin, “Y. A.”, “M. S.” and “M. K.” for participation in trafficking of 300 kilograms of heroin, “A. M.” for possession of 3600 grams of heroin and 35 kilograms and 100 grams of heroin and crack, “B. S.” for participation in trafficking and possession of 54 kilograms of heroin, “A. J.” for selling 45 kilograms of heroin, “K. H.” for buying and selling 80 kilograms of opium and trafficking of 6 kilograms of heroin.
On May 17, Fars news agency reported about the execution of four prisoners in the prison of Qazvin (West of Tehran). Three of the prisoners were convicted of drug-related charges said the report. These prisoners were identified as “Mohsen” (39 year old, from Tabriz) convicted of possession and trafficking of one kilo of the narcotic drug “Crystal”, Yousef (32 year old from Tabriz) and Saeed (22 year old from Tabriz) both convicted of participation in possession and trafficking of three kilograms of Crystal. Another prisoner who also was hanged in the prison of Qazvin, was identified as “Abbas R.” conviced of murder in 2009, said the report. (Sources: Iran Human Rights, 18/05/2014)
