IRAN: HANDS OFF CAIN CONDEMNS GHOLAMREZA KHOSRAVI’S EXECUTION
June 1, 2014: Hands Off Cain condemns the Gholamreza Khosravi’s execution carried out early in the morning by the Iranian regime. Gholamreza Khosravi was a member of the Organization of the People's Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI ) and was accused of "Moharebeh (enemy of God), a crime which often arises in the Iranian regime to persecute political opponents and dissidents. Khosravi was "guilty"of having supported the PMOI also funding the media of the organization. His execution was previously postponed several times due to international pressure.
Gholamreza Khosravi, 49 years old, was born in Abadan (southern Iran). He had a 17 year old son and was an expert in the installation of industrial. He was arrested on two occasions and spent 12 years in prison in harsh conditions of detention.
Sergio D'Elia and Elisabetta Zamparutti, respectively Secretary and Treasurer of Hands Off Cain, declared: "We strongly condemn this execution , which reveals the true face of the Rohani’s Presidency. During his mandate, Iran has in fact reached a record of executions and tightened the policy of repression against political prisoners and in particular against members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. "
The two radical exponents continued: "We appeal to the International Community and the Italian government to help and support the democratic opposition in Iran and outside of Iran , and in particular the organization of the people's Mojahedin of Iran, that from decades are fighting for a regime change."
