MALAYSIA: TWO FRIENDS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
July 9, 2014: Two friends were sentenced to death by hanging in Malaysia after being found guilty of trafficking in 15.1 gm of heroin and 2.6 gm of monoacetylmorphine almost two years ago.
Muhammad Iswandi Din, 26, and Ahmad Azizuddin Mohd Radzi, 27, committed the offence at a parking lot near the ferry counter at Jeti Point Kuah, Langkawi around 7 pm on Sept 3, 2012.
Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab said the defence failed to dent the prosecution's case.
"Both accused in their defence had dismissed the testimonies of the witnesses. But after studying their testimonies, I find them to have been concocted.
"The prosecution has proven its case beyond reasonable doubt," he said.
Deputy public prosecutor Aisyaf Falina Abdullah represented the prosecution while counsel RSN Rayer defended Muhammad Iswandi and Ahmad Azizuddin. (Sources: Bernama, 09/07/2014)
